• The IWSTH team has expanded

From July 2019, we welcome Lindie van Jaarsveld at the International Waldorf School of the Hague. For the 2019/2020 school year, she will be the class 2/3 teacher.

Lindie van Jaarsveld IWSTH teacher class 2/3

Lindie has a degree in social sciences with specialization in psychology and philosophy, a postgraduate certificate in education and a certificate in animal-assisted therapy. She also has a strong musical background. She likes to play the piano and the ukulele. She is also passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and has worked with children in different contexts. As part of the volunteer organization Paws for People, Lindie regularly visited children in hospitals and other facilities together with her trained therapy dog.

At the start of her career, Lindie worked with children with special needs, including children with autism. For the past five years, she has worked as a teacher at a Waldorf school in South Africa. During this time, Lindie attended several conferences and workshops on Waldorf education and acquired many new skills.

Lindie embraces the Waldorf teaching philosophy of educating the whole child – head, heart and hands! She believes that the Waldorf approach to education instills a love of learning in children, which empowers them to continue to learn and grow throughout their lives.

Lindie agrees with Rudolf Steiner when he says, “There is little value in knowing plants, animals and minerals unless one can find the stars working in every one of them.”

  • Harvest Festival

On October 19th, teachers, students, parents and staff all joined together to celebrate our first Harvest Festival. Everyone enjoyed stories from the teachers and songs and poems from the children followed by fun Autumn activities. Delicious pancakes and popcorn were served, children ground wheat in mills and pressed apples to make cider. We closed the afternoon with a potluck including traditional harvest dishes from around the world. A successful first in a tradition we’re sure to carry on in years to come!
